Pagadian City – The Provincial Government thru the Peace and Order Council has passed resolutions safeguarding the province from threats now a days.
With Governor Aurora Enerio Cerilles as chairman, and represented by BM Ernesto Mondarte, Chairman, Committee on Peace and Order of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan recently convene the members of the said council to meet and passed resolutions in regards to the present situations affecting the peace and order condition of the province.
“We meet to tackle issues concerning our situation especially on peace and order” BM Mondarte said.
Said resolutions focused on the provincial government support to the campaign initiated by the Armed Forces of the Philippine and the Philippine National Police based in the province and nearby communities especially its component city, Pagadian City.
Secondly, Zamboanga del Sur as a coastal province, point of entries are so many, sightings and landings had been reported, and the most strategic is the municipality of Labangan of which its coastal areas prawn with.
In the second resolution, specifically focus in Barangay Combo, Labangan which the PPOC requested the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, PA to establish an army detachment to depend and watch landings and entries of lawless elements.
It may be recalled that late last week the 1st Infantry Division detachment based in a junction between the municipality of Tukuran and Labangan national highway were in said detachment was hit by an Rifle Propelled Grenade that damages the detachment and wounding MSG Samuel Companion, PA. Suspected lawless elements escape after the MP Company together with the 53rd IB responded in the said attacks.
BM Mondarte further said that the council issued a press statement condemning the attack and the act of cowardice and terrorism by the lawless elements.
“We firmly believed that the attack last week in the said army detachment is an act of cowardice and terrorism.” BM Mondarte added.
