Pagadian City – Eighty Two (82) couples take their vows as newlyweds during the heart’s month celebration with City Mayor Samuel Co as their solemnizing officer and sponsor.
The yearly”Kasalan ng Bayan” is a joint project of the City Government, National Statistics Office (NSO) and the City Civil Registrar’s Office that usually done during valentines day or February 14, the day families, lovers, celebrates love and devotion.
With the help and support from the city’s Civil Registrar’s Office and the NSO, this year, 82 couples ranging from 18 year of age to 57 years (this year’s oldest groom to wed his bride) benefits from the campaign especially the implementation of R.A. 3753 or otherwise known as the Civil Registration Law.
Coinciding with the celebration of the heart’s month, the government also celebrates the nation’s civil registration month. This is a continuous policy, permanent and compulsory to all residents being Filipinos.
“From birth, marriage and to death, Filipinos must be registered.” Mr. Simplicio Duhaylungsod Jr. Supervising NSO Officer for District 1, said.
In the marriage vows, Mayor Sammy Co, who solemnized the 82 couples in simple rites send also a special message to the newly wed couples.
”It is the day which you can always remember as newlyweds, which they come together is a beginning, keeping this is success and working together to be come one is progress. As a god fearing family, the newly weds will surely benefit not only to become part and parcel of this great country, but registering them legally can help their families especially their children”.
Meanwhile, NSO Provincial Officer, Dr. Adelaida Cuarte, made emphasis on the government’s civil registration that,
” it is very important that all Filipinos must be registered and accounted for, not only for government’s data base but, this registration will help the future of their children especially when going in school, work to institution, and even out of the country as OFW’s.” she said
The “Kasalan ng Bayan” this year is free and laudable project of the city government for the non-marriage couples, live-in partners for years and had bear children and even grownups needing to be solemnized into marriage and to help them in the registration with the National Statistics Office.
This year activity was successful with the help of Mr. Leo Acorda, City Civil Registrar, and The City Mayors Office.
