2009 Zambo Sur Palaro Opens

Dumalinao,Zambo Sur – With the newly renovated 2 hectares sports complex in a former central school, the 2009 Palarong Panlalawigan opened last February 22nd.


“With the project cerilles initiative of Congressman Antonio Cerilles, Governor Aurora Enerio Cerilles and Mayor Ace William Cerilles as host town of the DepEd yearly competition, the Palarong Panlalawigan as it opened in its day 1 was indeed spectacular.” Division Superintendent Vizminda Serrato said.


Sprawling in the 2 hectares former central school, the new Dumalinao Sports Complex has an initial funding of more or less 15-M to build the 2 bleachers, one swimming pool, 400 meters track and field oval, and basketball court to cater to the needs of the Palaro.


“The sports complex is a project that the Cerilles administration has dreamed to promote good sportsmanship, and to cater to the needs of our athletes especially in the second district. This project is projected to cost Project Cerilles program in order to complete into a standard sports complex more or less 30-M.” Mayor Ace Cerilles said.


The Palaro welcomed 3000 athletes, coaches, and chaperons to include technical officials from six (6) Quality Learning Centers of the Zamboanga Del Sur School Division. The six QUALC is composed of different towns from District 1 and 2 of Zamboanga Del Sur.


During the opening, people from all walks of life in Dumalinao for the first time experience a spectacular event in sports. An opening parade of colorful motif because of the athletes’ uniforms, a field demonstration from other schools, and a 10 minute firework display finished the opening day.
