Pagadian City – “We want real peace, respect the MOA-AD” this is the cry of tens of hundreds of children, women and men of the Bangsamoro people gathered this week in Pagadian City organized by the Mindanao Alliance for Peace (MAP) to denounce the Supreme Court decided unconstitutional “Memorandum of Agreement-Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines(GRP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front(MILF) Tripoli Agreement on Peace of 2001”, as it is planned to be back again into the negotiating table.
In a press conference before the indignation rally at Plaza Luz of the city, UFS (Ummah Fi Salam) and CBCS-RMC Chairman Sultan Maguid Maruhom made emphasis that the Mindanao Alliance for Peace is a kind of alliance between 20 or more Civil Society groups all over Zamboanga Peninsula region to have their call to the government and to everyone to help achieve peace.
“This is a an alliance of the civil societies especially the Bangsamoro societies to uphold and respect what the GRP-MILF has talk over the past ten years or more to have peace in Mindanao and solve the long time conflict, and yet it was junk by the government justice department that it is unconstitutional. “ Sultan Maruhom said.
Sultan Maruhom further said that, “Because of our plea to all people in Mindanao, this rally is to advocate the real peace that we want, Bangsamoro or not, the people of Mindanao must get involve to achieve this.
MOA-AD is said to be the road to achieve peace in Mindanao, but the government denied this to the people, but nevertheless again Mindanaoan’s hopes, that with the intervention of all civil societies, the GRP-MILF panels, the international communities who is now focusing in the peace process, the Bishop and Ulamas, and even the Interfaith for Peace and Solidarity, must join hands to suggest thru resolutions of peace to be back again in the negotiating table for once and for all, again address the Mindanao conflict.
