PNP-PDEA Strikes Anew, 1 Wounded

Pagadian City – A certain Renier Arong y Capayas, 26 years old, a resident of Baybay Triunfo, Ozamis City was wounded when he tried to shoot it out with the joint elements of the 905^th PMG, City PNP, and the PDEA during a buy-bust operation against him inside the Bana Compound, Santiago District, February 12, 2009 at 9:00 PM, this city.

Initial report from police authorities disclosed that, the suspect who resist arrest draw his firearm tucked in his waist but the police shoot him first hitting the suspect at his chest, however, runs and eluded the responding police raiding team.

In the suspect’s house, the police found and confiscated one(1) cal. 32 revolver with defaced serial number, twenty-four(24) live ammunitions of the same caliber, six(6) live ammunition of cal.45 with one magazine, five(5) ammunition of cal. 380 and six (6) heat-sealed sachets of shabu or otherwise known as methamphetamine hydrochloride. Other drug paraphernalia’s were also found; two(2) big aluminum foils, an improvised water pipe tooter, lighters, glass pipe tubing’s, and an electric sealer.

Thereafter, the raiding team continued to conduct a hot pursuit of the fleeing suspect and later found him in the Pagadian City Medical Center after hospital personnel’s called the police that there was a man with gunshot wounds who is now under medical attention, this prompted the police to investigate and collared the suspect.

In the police interrogation, the suspect’s cell phone was also confiscated that made the police noticed that there were messages concerning an allege rescue of the suspect, this the police immediately set up an entrapment that led to another apprehension.

An hour later, police further disclosed that they notice a golden yellow SUV that coming back on forth near the hospital, as they were ready to apprehend, two suspects were collared inside the vehicle. They were: Zolieto Jabone y Gibo, 39 years old a resident of Pagadian City an allege policeman, a certain Miguel Quema Y Langga, 49 years old, of Cotta, Ozamis City.

In the investigation the were positively identified and confiscated from their possession, two (2) caliber 45 pistol, NORINO with SN NO463 and Smith and Wesson with defaced serial number, A machine pistol INGRAM, cal. 9mm with SN GE30062 USA with magazines and fully loaded with ammunitions. The police found also in possession of the suspects, one (1) big sachet with white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or otherwise known as shabu, four(4) aluminum foils, two(2) car plates number with markings JBR 188, a police badge Number 069721 and a Xerox PNP ID bearing the name of PO1 Miguel Langga Quema.

The joint elements of the 905^th PMG under P/CINSP Alikhan Abas Yusop, City PNP team led by PINSP Jerwin Cagurin under the supervision of COP/PCINSP Parson Asadil, and the PDEA team led by IO2 Rommel Torres of the ZDS-PDEA Enforcement Office is now filing charges against the suspects violating RA 9165 , Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 as Amended and RA 8294 or the Illegal Possession of High Caliber Firearms with the Prosecutor’s Office.

The said operation is an offshoot of the ongoing campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs and other substance in the province.

“With the directive from DILG pursuant to Memo Circular 2009-09, The Provincial Government Campaign against Drug Abuse, and the directive from higher headquarters, and with the pronouncement of the President as the Anti-Illegal Drug Czar, we would not stop until Zamboanga Del Sur will be a drug-free province.” PNP Provincial Director P/SSUPT Ramon M. Ochotorena said.
