Marawi City- More than 70 various youth and student organization leaders from different parts of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) gather to soft launch the SIGN for PEACE “A 1 Million Signature Campaign for the United Nation (UN) to intervene in Mindanao conflict and in Peace negotiation between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation front (MILF) .
The Philippine Action Network for Growth Innovation and National Advancement of the Muslim Youth,Inc (Panginam) in partnership with various youth and students is organizing the Bangsamoro Youth Leaders Forum: Mindanao Centuries –old Problem revisited at the Mindanao today at the Conference Room at Academic Complex, Mindanao State University (MSU)
Allan Balangi, Panginam President said that along with this event, the 1 million signature campaign the organization will envision to be presented to the United Nations (UN) for it to intervene and exercise its role in resolving the century-old problem of Mindanao. Hence, this will be officially launched on the forthcoming National BangsamoroYouth Congress to be held in Manila sometime in March, 2009.
Balangi disclosed that in order to understand the issue on the past Peace Negotiations and the controversial (Initiated ) Memorandum of Agreement 0n Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD), “it is important to have historical background on Mindanao problem, for the reason that only history can explain and tell us how far the struggle for Right to Self-Determination of the Bangsamoro people have gone.
